Arnot-Roberts Cabernet Sauvignon Bugay Vineyard

Wine Label Wine Review

2007 Arnot-Roberts Cabernet Sauvignon Bugay Vineyard

"($80; includes 7.5% each of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) Glass-staining ruby. Spicy blackcurrant and cherry preserve aromas are complicated by cracked pepper and a sexy floral quality. Silky, sweet and focused, with concentrated, energetic dark berry preserve and bitter cherry flavors, gentle tannins and an intensely spicy character. This vibrant, pure wine finishes with excellent clarity and nervy persistence."

Cali 351 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Label Wine Review

2005 Cali 351 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

"This is a very rich, and perhaps ageable, Cabernet Sauvignon, made with one-fifth Cabernet Franc. Grown from Calistoga grapes, it’s soft enough to drink now, with chocolaty flavors of blackberries, cherries, currants and mint. Lots of new oak adds caramel and smoky vanilla, but the wine is powerful enough to handle them. Give it through 2010 to integrate."

John Duval Wines Shiraz Entity Barossa Valley

Wine Label Wine Reviews

2007 John Duval Wines Shiraz Entity Barossa Valley

"The purple-colored 2007 Entity Shiraz spent 17 months in 30% new French oak, the balance in seasoned French and American oak. It displays an alluring nose of wood smoke, game, meat blood, Asian spices, and blueberry. Ripe and sweetly-fruited, this plush effort conceals enough structure to evolve for another 2-3 years. Drink this classy offering from 2012 to 2022."

93 points--Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Delicious and finely honed Barossa shiraz set for drinking now. Sweet, juicy and slightly jammy aromas of blackberries, blueberries, redcurrants and blood plums are backed by creamy, vanilla and chocolatey oak plus undertones of cinnamon and cloves. Sumptuous and juicy, it's long, vibrant and silky-smooth, delivering sweet flavours of berries and plums, tightly knit with aromatic and slightly gamey, mocha-like oak. It finished with lingering nuances of chocolate, licorice and mint."

Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir

2007 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Dutton Ranch Russian River Valley

"Bright, medium cherry-red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, raspberry, rose petal and orange zest; a real essence of pinot noir in a Chambolle way. Then juicy, silky and brisk, with red fruit, orange peel and spice flavors framed by ripe, harmonious acidity. There's no oakiness to get in the way of the pure, sharply focused fruit of this very suave and high-pitched pinot."

Stolpman Syrah Hilltops

Wine Label Wine Review
2007 Stolpman Vineyards Syrah Hilltops Santa Ynez Valley
"During the elevage of the 2007 Syrah Hilltops Estate (100% Syrah) the fruit is passed over the lees of the Roussanne used for the L'Avion. Cropped at 1.5 tons of fruit per acre (from the vineyard's highest peaks), this beauty offers sweet blackberry, honeysuckle, and black cherry notes intermixed with hints of smoke, chocolate, and espresso roast. This inky/purple-tinged wine boasts a superb texture, sweet, velvety tannins, and a long finish. It is an intriguing California Syrah that offers a style mid-way between a classic Central Coast Syrah and a wine from the northern Rhone (such as Cote Rotie). Consume it over the next decade."
94 points--Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Inky ruby. An intense floral aroma complements ripe cherry and black raspberry on the nose. Deeply concentrated and powerful but vibrant, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a supple, silky texture. A suave note of candied violet lingers on the impressively long, sweet finish. This wine was aged for a brief spell on roussanne lees."

Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay

Wine Label Wine Reviews
2007 Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard Russian River Valley
"Yellow-gold. Potent aromas of pear, citrus pith, smoked meat and toasty lees. A sexy floral quality builds with air and carries onto the palate, adding complexity to the spicy orchard fruit and Meyer lemon flavors. The leesiness echoes on the finish, which is gently chewy, mineral-driven and impressively long."
94 points--Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"The light gold-hued 2007 Chardonnay Lorenzo exhibits aromas of creme brulee, peaches, honeysuckle, and flowers in addition to terrific acidity, more minerality, and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. Still young, this beauty should age effortlessly for 4-5 years. Winemaker Eric Stern judiciously uses wood as a complementary seasoning, which is evident in all these Chardonnays."
