| Wine Reviews 2007 Baker Lane Vineyards Syrah Estate Vineyard Sonoma Coast "Lurid purple color. Deep, mineral-driven aromas of blackcurrant, incense, minerals and pipe tobacco. Lithe, light-bodied dark berry flavors stain the palate, with zesty mineral and floral qualities providing energy. This has the weight and texture of a pinot, but the flavors are deep, broad and powerful. The floral and mineral notes build with air and extend through the sweet, sappy finish. In the context of Old World syrah, this would be Cote-Rotie, and an awfully good one." 92 points--Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar | |
| 2007 Baker Lane Vineyards Syrah Sonoma Coast Cuvee Sonoma Coast "Bright violet color. Black fruits, cherry and minerals on the nose, along with a strong floral undertone. Supple black raspberry and cassis flavors are complemented by violet pastille and mineral nuances, with silky tannins lending support. The fruit gains strength with air and carries through a strikingly pure and persistent finish. This became more powerful with air while maintaining vibrancy, suggesting that it will repay patience." 91 points--Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar |
